WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV’s mission to further the progress of women in business depends on the commitment of our WBEs, Corporate Members, volunteers and advocates.
Each year we celebrate the success and contributions of our most engaged and active WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV-certified WBEs and Corporate Members in the Metro NY and Greater DMV regions. Prestigious awards recognize their hard work and dedication. Both WBEs and corporate members are eligible for recognition through WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV Done Deals™ and Awards programs.
WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV Awards
WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV Awards bring public recognition to businesses and individuals that have shown an outstanding degree of support for WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV and serve as an inspiration to others in all spheres of our community.
At the beginning of each calendar year, all WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV stakeholders are invited via email to apply for these awards. WBEs and Corporate Members may nominate themselves, and all stakeholders may nominate other individuals and businesses. WBEs and corporate members cannot receive the same award for two consecutive years.
What Award Winners Receive
- Recognition at WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV’s Annual Awards to Celebrate Our Partners
- Press coverage and recognition in marketing materials surrounding Awards Breakfast events
- Recognition as award winners in WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV marketing materials, distributed to over 3,000 people
- Opportunity to serve on the following year’s Awards Committees

Outstanding Corporation Award
Awarded to one Metro NY and one Greater DMV Corporate Member annually.
The Outstanding Corporation Award recognizes Corporate Members that have contributed significantly to WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV’s mission by actively supporting women in business. Working with certified WBEs, providing resources and support to the WBE community, participating in events and programs, and developing innovative initiatives for supplier diversity are all ways in which Corporate Members can demonstrate their support. The Outstanding Corporation Award honors and celebrates their efforts.

Star Award
Awarded to one Metro NY and one Greater DMV WBE annually.
The Star Award recognizes outstanding certified WBEs that have actively participated in WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV programs and events, supported other women in business, and developed innovative solutions for doing business with Corporate Members and other WBEs.
The Star will be recognized by WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV within the community.

Outstanding Women's Business Advocate Award
Awarded to one Metro NY and Greater DMV WBE or Corporate Member or Community Advocate annually.
The Outstanding Women’s Business Advocate Award recognizes a single individual, representing either a certified WBE, WPEO Corporate Member or community advocate who has made an outstanding contribution to WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV and supported women in business through active involvement and contribution to WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV. The award is open to WBEs, Corporate Members and community advocates in Metro NY and Greater DMV regions.

President's Award
Awarded to one Metro NY and one Greater DMV outstanding individual annually.
The President’s Award recognizes an individual personally selected by the WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV President & CEO who has made an outstanding contribution to WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV throughout the year. One is presented for the Metro NY region and one for the Greater DMV region.
Done Deal™ Awards
Providing WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV-certified WBEs with more business opportunities is one of the primary ways in which WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV puts its mission into action—and our Done Deals™ initiative was created to recognize, publicize and celebrate these successes.
A business deal is recognized as a Done Deal™ only if it meets the necessary criteria, and is submitted to WBEC Metro NY or WBEC Greater DMV as a Done Deal™ via our website. This communication is crucial, as it serves to inform all members about the successful contracting and business opportunities that result from being a Metro NY or Greater DMV-certified WBE or Corporate Member.
Done Deals™ Awards
Participants must submit their Done Deals™ between April 1ˢᵗ to March 31ˢᵗ of the following year—the challenge period—to qualify for that year’s Done Deal™ Awards. Done Deal™ Awards in various categories are granted to the highest-achieving WBEs and Corporate Members who submitted Done Deals™ during the challenge period.
Corporate Opportunity Award
Awarded to WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV Corporate Members annually that submit the most Done Deals™ in each category outlined below with Metro NY and Greater DMV-certified WBEs.
This year, there will be two options for applying for the Corporate Opportunity Award in each region: One award may be presented for aservice corporation (i.e. banks, insurance) and one award for a manufacturing corporation (i.e. pharmaceutical).
Corporate Champion Award
Awarded to one WBEC Metro NY and one Greater DMV Corporate Member annually that submits the highest cumulative value of Done Deals™ signed with WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV-certified WBEs.
WBE Connection Award
Awarded to WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV WBEs annually that report the most Done Deals™ with other WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV-certified WBEs in the categories listed below.
This year, there will be two options for applying for the WBE Connection Award in each region: One award may be presented for a transactional business (i.e. car service rides, delivery services) and one award for contract business (one signed contract per service/product delivered).
WBE Done Deals™ Champion Award
Awarded to one WBEC Metro NY and one Greater DMV WBE annually that reports the most Done Deals™ with WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV Corporate Members.
Public Sector Awards
Done Deal™ awards for the public sector recognize outstanding achievements on the part of Metro NY and Greater DMV-certified WBEs doing business with public sector affiliates in New York City, New York State, the State of New Jersey or Commonwealth of Virginia:

The Metro NY-certified WBE that submits the most Done Deals™ with the City of New York.
Access New Jersey Award
The Metro NY-certified WBE that submits the most Done Deals™ with the State of New Jersey.
Access Virginia Award
The Greater DMV-certified WBE that submits the most Done Deals™ with the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Access New York State Award
The Metro NY-certified WBE that submits the most Done Deals™ with the State of New York.
